Technical Specialist


Ventia are seeking a Technical Specialist to join the team in a is a full-time, permanent role based at our Cremorne Head office in Melbourne.

About the role:

The Ventia Operations Centre (VOC) supports Remote Technical Operations under its Network Device Management (NDM) pillar. The Network Operations Team manages events, incidents, and changes across diverse technologies including optical, cellular, and satellite communication systems, and IT and embedded systems.

Network Operations is vital to the operations of the Victorian Emergency Alerting System (EAS), a statewide paging network supporting Victorian Emergency Services Organisation, ensuring public health and safety.

The Network Operations Technical Specialist will handle technical escalations, ensure shift continuity, develops solutions, improves processes, and deliver training to meet and exceed service KPIs and SLAs.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Documentation: Develop, update, and review documentation and work instructions; deliver training; and improve documentation through Post Incident Reviews.
  • Processes: Create and enhance processes, implement new NOC functions, and drive improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with Ventia policies.
  • Business Continuity: Maintain and update Business Continuity Management Plans (BCMP), assist with BCMP tests, and adapt continuity plans to evolving business needs.

Technical Competencies and Skills:

  • Certifications: Cisco (CCENT/CCNA), Entry-Level Linux, ITIL Foundations
  • Required Skills: Fault management, process/system automation, technical documentation, and research capability
  • Desirable Skills: Linux environment experience, scripting (Bash, Perl, Python), virtualization (VMware), transmission/radio networks, and helpdesk or NOC experience
