SHEQ Business Manager

Ventia is now seeking a SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) Business Manager to lead the Business Unit SHEQ team supporting our Telecommunications contracts nationally.

As a leading SHEQ Professional for our Telco sector, you will work with the SHEQ team to foster an integrated approach to deliver on legal, contractual, and business SHEQ requirements.

This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, with flexibility to work from home. Travel to sites for field-based visits will be required.

What you will be doing:

  • Reporting to the Sector SHEQ General Manager, you will be responsible for implementing the Ventia SHEQ Strategy within the Business Unit.
  • You will be leading, communicating and providing strategic SHEQ advice and support to the Business Unit Executive General Manager, Project Directors and Senior Operations Managers.
  • Leading a large team of SHEQ professionals across Australia servicing a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Managing and applying the Ventia SHEQ governance framework and management system.
  • Using systems and processes to enable an integrated approach to SHEQ management so we continue to deliver on our legal, contractual and business requirements.
  • Working with and across teams, to apply relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Delivering on our environmental commitment towards a Healthy Planet.

About you:

  • Experience leading a SHEQ function within a complex and diverse business portfolio.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement SHEQ strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and enable continuous improvement.
  • Ability to implement, track and maintain SHEQ objectives and targets.
  • Experience leading ICAM investigations.
  • Operational experience in high-risk environments.
  • Tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental management.
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
  • Proficient in using online applications including Microsoft Office, safety management and reporting systems.
