About the role:
As our Senior Manager Employee and Industrial Relations, you will be responsible for setting the strategy for industrial agreement negotiations and bargaining for Ventia.
This position will require a highly skilled lawyer with a well-developed background in industrial relations who has demonstrated experience working in complex, heavily unionised industrial businesses with exposure to a wide variety of enterprise agreements.
Our ideal candidate will have an eagerness to learn and quickly adapt to Ventia's unique industrial environment, becoming a subject matter expert while offering practical, risk conscious advice to our business stakeholders within diverse industry sectors.
Based from our North Sydney corporate head office with hybrid working splitting your time in the office and work from home. Options to base from Melbourne or Brisbane would be considered for exceptional applicants.
What you’ll be doing:
- Influence the development of Ventia's Industrial relations strategy for individual agreements negotiations and bids for new business.
- Remain informed of new legislation and case law that may impact on the strategic direction of the business.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with third parties including relevant unions, tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission and regulatory bodies such as the Fair Work Ombudsman.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure emerging IR issues are known in advance and coordinated response is developed as needed with the ability to understand customer needs, concerns and behaviour.
- Provide timely, pragmatic, accurate, and sound advice on complex matters.
- Represent Ventia in Fair Work Commission conference and hearings.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations and Legal field.
- Expert knowledge across the field of Industrial Relations and Employment Law.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar senior level within a complex industrial and employee relations role.
- Ability to negotiate effectively and to influence outcomes in a non-adversarial manner.
- Well-developed knowledge of legal and industrial framework, including applicable legislation, common law principles, court and tribunal processes and rules.
- Demonstrated advocacy experience representing employers in the Fair Work Commission.
- Capable of identifying opportunities and able to take action to overcome challenges to avoid future risks.
- Experience in complex legal, regulatory and compliance environments with the ability to distil complex issues and determine solutions.
- Analytically minded using data to drive decision making.
