Senior Leading Hand


Two Senior Leading Hands required to join our QLD Regional Transport South Coast Team, supporting Roads and Pavements projects. This is a full-time position based in Stapylton with local travel

About the Role
As the Senior Leading Hand, you will oversee pavement and drainage building works and provide site supervision, managing the leading hands, subcontractor work crews and own crew as required. You will ensure all work activities are carried out in a healthy and safe work environment and ensure key performance indicators are met including production rates, site management and quality. You will also drive a strong safety culture. Duties include – 

  • Manage site quality assurance and conformance activities
  • Engage with TMR inspectorial counterparts including Traffic Management Centre
  • Monitor resource utilisation including materials in line with budgets and targets ensuring value for money
  • Monitor performance, efficiency and advising opportunities for improvements
  • Planning and scheduling of work to meet timelines and outputs against daily program and project and organise and plan work tasks for the site at a two week lookahead
  • Provide leadership and support to your team and guidance in delivering bet for network solutions and promoting whole of life cycle approach to the management of all assets


Required Skills and Experience
You must be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role / civil roads experience.

  • White card
  • Current drivers licence
  • Be a strong communicator with solid problem-solving abilities and time management skills
  • Experienced in planning and organising work and ability to read plans/drawings
  • Traffic management knowledge

While not necessary it is desirable that you hold other relevant qualifications/tickets/licences (e.g. Cert IV Construction Supervision, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Traffic Control Licence, plant tickets, HR drivers’ licence)
