Senior Finance Manager - Corporate Accounting

About the role:

Join Ventia as our Senior Finance Manager - Corporate Accounting. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller this position will business partner with various executive leadership function owners and play a key role within Group Finance.

You will be responsible for the overall financial management, from a reporting, forecasting, budgeting and compliance perspective for a number of executive leadership functions. In addition to heading up the payroll accounting team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead finance staff across responsible portfolio, developing & embedding systems & processes to drive performance and consistency.
  • Monthly reporting & review for various executive leadership functions.
  • Analysis & insights into performance, including benchmarking, comparisons to drive continual improvement, identifying areas for further cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Lead strategic financial advice to function operations and management.
  • R&O analysis – prepare & execute performance improvement plans to drive ‘better than budget’ outcomes and rolling reviews to identify ‘hidden’ problems early.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage and deliver a range of services to the business including central journals, reconciliations and clearing accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group Service Recharge Policy (GSR). Manage and deliver a range of monthly corporate recharges including Plant and Property recharges, GSR, WCC and Insurances. Manage and deliver direct allocation of corporate expenses including invoices and FBT.
  • Lead the payroll accounting team to ensure compliance from an accounting perspective including payroll accounting journals, LSL, AL, lodgement of payroll tax returns, payment of super.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., qualified CA or CPA) preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership and business partnering abilities.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Commercially astute decision maker with the ability to work with elements of ambiguity.
  • Strategic thinking with an understanding of key financial drivers within complex organisation structures.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of property, payroll and fixed asset accounting and compliance.
