Safety Manager
About the Role
Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a Safety Manager within our Energy Solutions business unit.
You will be a key leader in promoting a positive and generative approach to the health, safety, environment and quality functions for the head contract.
The primary purpose of the role is to partner with the contract team and contractors providing leadership, advice and support for compliance and operational excellence in health, safety, environmental & quality for all phases of the contract scope (Design, construct, commission and maintenance).
Other Role Responsibilities:
- Managing the implementation of SHEQ Management Plans across contract
- Ensuring compliance with legislations, regulations, and standards and that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, and with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation
- Undertake, or lead, investigations in relation to safety related incidents or issues and provide recommendations through the contract and business line leadership team.
- Support and partner with operations for delivering adequate SHEQ design, construction and commissioning risk workshops and the execution of work inline with the methodology.
- Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures including fostering a culture of ‘safety and health above all else’
- Oversee employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning
- Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are developed and maintained and all records are managed in accordance with Company requirements
- Develop and deliver safety related training, when required including new starter induction, tool box talks and pre start meetings, campaigns and adhoc sessions relating to the risk profile
- Monitor contracts statistical data and report to senior leadership weekly, monthly or at request
About you
To be considered for this role, you will require a tertiary qualification in OHS/WHS or equivalent with extensive experience working in a similar role leading large scale projects.
You will also possess:
- Formal training in incident investigation (ICAM)
- Management Systems and Lead Auditor certifications
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret procedures to suit plant and equipment and the working environment based on risk management processes and principles
- Experience in managing safety audit programs to ensure effective system compliance
- Significant exposure to green / brown field construction and commissioning environments
- Demonstrated understanding of contractual KPI’s Demonstrated commitment to SHEQ through behaviours, visible and accountable leadership and participation in monitoring of established working practices
- Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment
