Project Accountant


Ventia is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join their Finance team in Stapylton (easy commute from either Gold Coast or Brisbane). 

In this permanent full-time role, you will partner with the Ventia QTSC (Qld Transport South Coast) team, providing effective financial and project cost and forecasting reports. You will analyse financial performance, offer advice and support the business in making informed decisions. Your strategic insights will drive cost saving and business improvements initiatives.

About the Role
Driving business performance through accurate reporting, maximising opportunities and minimising risks, maintaining a clear P&L and transparent balance sheet and ensuring a healthy cash flow through effective debtor and creditor management. 
Key responsibilities include – 

  • Month end consolidations
  • Accounts payable and receivable 
  • Payroll – ensuring accurate payroll processing and maintaining system cost/sell rates
  • Analytics driven decision making providing clear insights into performance metrics
  • Operational and technical excellence – understanding contact commercials to ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Audit and improve finance systems and processes


Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in project finance roles in the construction industry, preferably with a Tier 1 Civil Construction organisation
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, commerce or accounting
  • CPA / CA qualification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite and SAP (and Ariba preferred)
  • Current knowledge of relevant Accounting Standards
  • Ability to influence non-financial personnel
  • Be able to demonstrate strong communication and time management skills, high attention to detail and sound leadership attributes
