Pest Technician/Grounds Person

We are currently seeking a Groundsperson to support our Defence Base Services contract in Hobart, Tasmania.
The Groundsman is responsible for the day-to-day safety and management of the training area (TA) in accordance with the TARM Deliverables. You will also be expected to conduct aesthetic and environmental land management activities including weed management, fire management, grounds and garden maintenance and environmental monitoring programs across various multiple sites in northern Tasmania.
What you will be doing:
- Perform land management activities including ride on mowing, tractor slashing and chainsaw operation.
- Small Powered Plant Operation e.g. brush cutting, leaf blowing and pressure water cleaning.
- Perform minor planned maintenance activities and inspections.
- Record and notify any discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)
- Provide support to the Range Control function.
- Manage TA accommodation and associated areas.
- Manage first response bushfire fighting capability to designated Training Areas and Ranges, including the provision of designated fire fighting vehicles, equipment and crews
About you:
- Qualifications in Horticulture or relevant years of experience.
- Chemical Application Certificate
- Experience in Environmental Grounds Maintenance.
- Experience in the use of Grounds Maintenance machinery such as: ride on mowers, tractors, brush cutters etc.
- Experience with using a chainsaw.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Sound problem solving, organising and time management skills.
