Head Chef


The Role
Ventia / Wajarri Enterprises Limited (WEL) are currently looking to engage a Head Chef to support our Living Services team working on Ventia’s Square Kilometre Array Project (SKAO) in South Murchinson. Reporting to the Village Manager, this role will see you responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. You will be looking after both Front-of-House and Back-of-House staff as well as an apprentice chef.


This is a full-time permanent role, working 12hours days from 09:00am – 09:00pm on a 2:2 roster. The point-of-hire for this position is either Perth (with flights from Jandakot) or Geraldton, WA to Boolardy Airstrip in South Murchinson.


The salary package for this position is $126,000 per year + Superannuation.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
  • Create and design innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends and seasonal ingredients
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction
  • Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health and safety regulations
  • Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Manage inventory levels, including ordering and purchasing food and supplies, while minimising waste


Requirements:

  • WA Driver’s Licence
  • Certificate III Commercial Cookery
  • WA Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Strong understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
  • Passion for culinary excellence and creativity in menu design
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
