Caretaker Yampi Sound


The Role
Ventia are currently looking to engage a Caretaker to support our Defence Base Services contract. Reporting to the Ranges Supervisor, this role will see you undertake a variety of caretaking duties at Yampi Sound Base which is located outside of Derby. You will be providing customer support to subcontractors and other personnel entering the base as well as security checks, grounds and maintenance activities as required. 

This is a full-time permanent role and is a live-in arrangement with a house and company car provided. You will be working a 38-hour week; however, you will need to be on-call and on-site during out of hours periods and weekends as required. 

The salary package for this role is $90,000 per year (including Super). House, car, fuel card, and internet are all provided. 

To be considered for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen and willing to undergo a police check.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to

  • Initial point of contact for subcontractors visiting the base to carry out works 
  • Administration tasks including reporting any damage to buildings, equipment of other assets (fences, trees, roads etc) 
  • Mowing, slashing, gardening and weed removal as required  
  • Fire break and dirt road maintenance 
  • Removal of rubbish 
  • Providing a security presence 

Requirements

  • Current WA Driver’s License 
  • Current Senior First Aid or willingness to obtain it 
  • Basic computer skills with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc) 
  • Open and clear communication within a team environment over radio 
  • Experience with groundskeeping, firefighting or mechanical servicing are all highly regarded
