Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Specialist to join our team and support the improvement of the organisation's sustainability performance through high quality disclosures and sustainability initiatives. This role will see you provide subject matter expertise to deliver and lead the development of Snowy Hydro's sustainability reporting and facilitate the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives.

You are a strong communicator, who thrives on building and fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and will drive improvements in governance, quality and processes. Reporting to the General Manager of Sustainability, this will be a permanent role based in Sydney.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Gathering, creating and improving content for sustainability disclosures such as sustainability reports, investor questions and other documents.
  • Leading the production of the annual sustainability disclosure and aligning it with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework and integrated reporting.
  • Assuming the role of organisational expert on GRI disclosure, integrated reporting, and owning the development of meeting compliance and ongoing improvements.
  • Developing briefing notes, presentations and website content, tailored to the audience as needed, including the development of infographics and working with designers and stakeholders to improve these.
  • Monitor the development of existing sustainability disclosure frameworks to identify requirements, to ensure current and future reporting needs are met.

We are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Enthusiasm, accountability and drive to champion project success and ongoing improvements.
  • Proven experience in project management and delivery of small to medium sized projects within large complex organisations.
  • Knowledge of or experience with sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Strong background in editing, reporting and document writing skills.
  • Planning, analytical and problem-solving skills with strategic thinking and multi-tasking ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote).
