The Location

The Role

As the Project Engineer - Quality Mechanical, you will be responsible for overseeing project engineering and quality assurance for all mechanical manufacturing, preservation, and site installation activities on behalf of the 2.0 Owner's team. Reporting directly to the Quality Lead - Construction, your primary goal will be to proactively ensure that the Engineering Requirements (ERs) are met in accordance with the contract.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the Employer's Requirements are being met at all times, working proactively to prevent short, medium and long-term legacy issues which could compromise the Snowy 2.0 operational performance.
  • Implement the quality strategy to prevent legacy issues by overseeing mechanical manufacturing compliance, coordinating hold and witness points, ensuring adherence to designs and specifications, and reviewing contractor documentation.
  • Conduct site-based quality engineering activities to monitor the quality of installation and fit-out works, overseeing contractor performance to prevent deficiencies, ensuring compliance with the latest IFC drawings and specifications, and verifying that all inspections and corrective actions are executed per project requirements.
  • Reviewing the Contractor´s Lot/manufacturing records in accordance with Project quality principles.
  • Monitor/prepare the daily reports on all works in progress and report to the Quality Lead.
  • Maintain up to date, accessible and accurate versions of necessary shop drawings, documents and records up to date and have accessible hard copies on site as required.
  • Ensure all communications to the Contractor and within the Owner's Team regarding QA and non-conformance are managed via ACONEX.

You'll Bring To The Team:

A degree in Engineering that qualifies for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia and at least five years of experience in large-scale mechanical engineering projects within construction. With strong quality management skills, you excel in both teamwork and autonomous roles, adapting effectively to change. You can read and understand technical specifications and drawings, enabling you to develop safe and efficient methods for executing works.
