About the position:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance Technician - Mechanical to join our Operations team in Khancoban, NSW. As a mechanical tradesperson you will be responsible for installing, overhauling and conducting routine and breakdown maintenance for all mechanical features of generating sets, auxiliary plant and outlying hydraulic structures including isolating the plant where competent / authorised, to contribute to achieving the required availability and reliability of Snowy Hydro assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Maintenance Team Leader you will:

  • Install, overhaul and test generating plant, auxiliary, outlying equipment and structures
  • Undertake mechanical trades tasks such as welding, fabrication, lubrication and specialised machining tasks within competencies, qualifications, and authorisation
  • Participate in commissioning & recommissioning following installation or overhaul of equipment
  • Conduct routine and breakdown maintenance on generating plant, auxiliary plant, outlying equipment and structures and identify report and repair defects
  • Maintain records by completing all administrative requirements and utilising the maintenance management systems

About the location:

This position is based at Khancoban, in the Snowy Valleys, on a 9 day fortnight and is not a DIDO or FIFO arrangement. Relocation assistance can be provided if you're interested in relocating to a location within reasonable commuting distance of Khancoban.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Certificate III in Fitting Machinist Trade, with experience in heavy industry preferred
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning and monitoring procedures and work methods
  • Experience with commissioning & recommissioning following the installation or overhaul of equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
  • A willingness to continually learn and develop in areas outside of your current skill set
  • Good communication skills
