About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

About the position:

Ready to play a key role in one of the most significant technology transformations in the Australian energy retail sector?

We’re on the lookout for a seasoned Group Assurance Manager to oversee assurance activities for the implementation of our new Core Retail Platform — a critical system uplift to support our growing customer base and future-proof our business. This is a rare opportunity to work at the centre of innovation, governance, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. Your work will directly influence the success of one of Snowy Hydro’s most important strategic programs, while also safeguarding and enhancing trust in our systems, people, and processes.

About the location:

This exciting opportunity is based in our Red Energy office located in Cremorne (just a short walk from east richmond station), Melbourne. For candidates currently residing interstate, we do offer relocation assistance to help you make the move.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead audit planning and execution for our Core Retail Platform implementation
  • Evaluate controls and governance over the project’s execution, ensuring key risks are effectively managed
  • Support the development and implementation of our Group Assurance Framework and Strategy
  • Routinely report and challenge on the effectiveness of the Assurance Framework and its alignment to the Global Internal Audit Standards
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to support delivery of the iGroup Assurance Plan
  • Analyse, assess, evaluate and conclude on the effectiveness and efficiency of the control environment (including control posture)
  • Collaborate on assurance activities across Snowy Hydro Group including Generation, Portfolio, Major Projects, Retail, and Corporate functions
  • Ensure group assurance recommendations strike the right balance between control and cost-benefit
  • Provide advisory support and investigative assistance as needed

About you:

  • Extensive experience (12+ years) in system implementation or system assurance in complex regulatory environments
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, with professional certification (CIA, CA, CPA, CISA or equivalent) would be desirable
  • Comprehensive understanding of internal audit principles, methodologies and risk based auditing
  • Experience in System Implementation from being part of the Project Management Team or providing assurance to the implementation (second or third line of defense).
  • Strong knowledge of the retail energy sector and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior leaders, with confident communication and negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for driving meaningful improvements
  • Able to operate with independence, courage, and high ethical standards

Diversity and inclusion is important to us:

Snowy Hydro has a culture of decency and inclusion, with a commitment to the health and wellbeing of our people and a supportive environment to ensure that everyone - regardless of background - feels included and can succeed.
