We have an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Project Investigations Lead to join our Operations team, contributing to our business and project delivery requirements. We seek a goal-oriented individual focused on developing and evaluating projects from the concept stage to Options Analysis. The role will also lead the Electrical Safety Assurance Program.

Reporting to the Manager Project Investigations, core to the role is your ability to collaborate with clients, sponsors and stakeholders to define and confirm objectives of projects, lead the investigation studies and options analysis to identify, detail and evaluate best for business solutions.

This is a pivotal role that can, by mutual agreement, offer flexible working arrangements, as Snowy Hydro appreciates the additional value such arrangements can bring to our business and to our employees. The successful candidate can choose to work primarily from Cooma, Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra. Irrespective of primary work location, regular travel to regional offices and assets will be essential to establish key stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate studies to determine the best investment options across disciplines and business units.
  • Identify areas of value (financial, performance, cultural, compliance, etc.) through engagement with stakeholders and benchmarking.
  • Evaluate and select contracting companies for design investigations in consultation with delivery teams.
  • Maintain a commercial focus during the design investigation process and research industry innovations.
  • Lead the SHL Electrical Safety Assurance Program.
  • Identify and evaluate electrical safety improvement opportunities, driving change in safety practices.
  • Develop & maintain the electrical safety compliance & assurance program

We're looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years industry experience in project engineering or asset engineering in the power generation or other heavy industry
  • Demonstrated experience in managing assurance programs and a practical understanding of asset function and operations
  • Sound capability to review & assess consultant designs and recommendations on engineering projects, well-developed analytical and research skills.
  • Strong communications skills including the ability to build rapport with both technical and non-technical personnel
