SHEQ Advisor


The Role
Ventia are currently seeking expressions SHEQ Advisors who will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and governance of SHEQ programs, systems and processes for the contract. This role acts as the key interface between the SHEQ Manager and operational delivery. This role will see you based at Keswick Barracks or RAAF Edinburgh in a permanent fulltime position. 

The responsibilities of the position include but not limited to:

  • Implement the project Health and Safety objectives at Agency and site level 
  • Contribute to the development and execution of broader company strategies, initiatives, programs and leading Health and Safety practices 
  • Contribute to H&S objectives by setting a positive example and being a role model for the rest of the team 
  • Ensure Ventia SHEQ standards are incorporated into the workplace

Education and Qualifications: 

  • Tertiary Qualification in Workplace/ Occupation Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Health, Environmental or Quality Equivalent.
  • Formal qualification in incident investigation (ICAM preferred).
  • Lead Auditor qualification or audit experience.

Technical Competencies: 

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation, standards and codes of practice 
  • Leading investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Ability to implement SHEQ Objectives and targets at project level.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a positive team culture.
  • Strong ability to articulate SHEQ strategy to operational leads.
  • Sounds knowledge of root cause analysis tools.
  • Ability to influence and manage internal and external stakeholders 
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, Auditing & ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Sound communication skills including high level of literacy and numeracy including identifying project members requiring additional comprehension assistance.
  • Practical people management skills with a track record of improving performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role and industry
