Maintenance Technician – Plant Access (Station Operator)

Location: Khancoban, NSW (This is not a DIDO or FIFO arrangement)

Schedule:

  • Training Phase: 9-day fortnight
  • Post-Training: 4-day week (37.5 hours), including rotating ON CALL requirement

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated Senior Specialist Tradesperson to join our Operations team in the Murray Region as a Maintenance Technician – Plant Access (Station Operator). In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing assigned maintenance tasks on plant and equipment, including routine and defect maintenance, fault finding and first response.
  • Isolating, restoring, operating, and commissioning HV plant and equipment.
  • Developing and reviewing isolation/restoration programs to address identified risks and hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance tasks on various plant and equipment.
  • Execute routine and defect maintenance, ensuring high standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Isolate, restore, operate, and commission HV plant and equipment.
  • Develop and review isolation and restoration programs to mitigate risks and hazards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Preferably Electrical trade background with relevant High Voltage or Controls experience is preferred. (would consider Mechanical Trade background with appropriate industry experience)
  • Post-trade qualifications are advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Technical knowledge of apparatus and plant associated with heavy industry.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Familiarity with maintenance program requirements, analysis techniques, and management practices.
  • Willingness to obtain authorisation to isolate, restore, and perform maintenance in accordance with Snowy Hydro Access Rules, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with stakeholders, employees, management, and contractors.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with maintenance management systems (e.g., Ellipse, SCADA) and Microsoft or Google applications.
  • Knowledge of WHS, EEO, and Environmental Policies and standards.
  • Participation in an on-site on-call roster is required.
