Maintenance Supervisor


The Role
Ventia are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor who will be responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating the installation, maintenance and repair work of equipment and assets in accordance with the requirements of the Defence Base Services contract.

This is a permanent role, on a drive in / drive out (DIDO) roster. The roster will consist of 12 days on (12-hour shifts) / 9 days off. 

Upon commencement of employment, you will be supplied with suitable accommodation within the Woomera Village, while on shift. The cost of this accommodation is provided by Ventia. Meals are also provided during your 12 days on, while in Woomera. 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure the functionality and reliability of facilities and equipment, including testing, repairing, and replacing components.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to identify potential issues and required maintenance.
  • Coordinate resources for timely completion of reactive, statutory, and time-based maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery, while addressing any issues affecting service delivery.
  • Manage inspections, schedules, and staff performance to ensure effective maintenance operations.
  • Lead team development through training, coaching, and performance management, while maintaining safety and operational standards.
  • Provide annual budget information, monitor expenditures, identify variances and implement corrective actions.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in an applicable engineering discipline; mechanical, electrical, electronics (or trade background with relevant experience).
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership of a multi-disciplined team of tradespersons and assistants.
  • Experienced in budgeting, forecasting and maintenance/planning software systems.
  • Strong communication skills enabling them to deal with managers, colleagues, contractors and customers in an effective manner.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations for this role.
  • Valid Australian Drivers licence. 

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
