Lead Chef


Ventia is a leading infrastructure services company, operating across Australia and New Zealand. Our clients are the owners and operators of assets that are critical to our local communities.

In partnership with the Australia Defence Force, we are seeking a qualified Lead Chef to join the team at Puckapunyal, located 10km west of Seymour.

You will have the opportunity to work full time hours between Monday and Sunday, with attractive hourly rates in the Ventia Defence EA.

Your previous hospitality experience, strong work ethic and willingness to learn will hold you in good stead. The Chef manager and the Catering and Hospitality team look forward to you joining the team. 

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Ensure efficient preparation and delivery of meal services from production facilities, by ensuring regular consultation with the Mess Manager regarding expected numbers and additional or unplanned requirements.
  • Implementation and management of our Food Safety Program.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and barbeques.
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are clean, sanitised and presentable at all times.
  • Review customer comments and feedback daily.

To considered for this position you will need:

  • To be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain an Australian Defence Force Clearance
  • Hold Cert 3 Commercial Cookery
  • Have a minimum of 3 Years' experience in a large commercial kitchen environment.
  • Have sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation and statutory obligations. 
  • Strong planning and organisation skills and proven experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level. 

You must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to maintain a Defence clearance in order to be eligible for these positions, as well as be able to pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
