Field Lead / Handyman
Ventia is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Field Lead to join our Defence Base Services team in Darwin, Northern Territory. This position plays a critical role in the supervision and coordination of building trades services, ensuring the ongoing performance, integrity, and availability of Defence facilities and equipment.
You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of customer service, managing key stakeholder relationships, and overseeing day-to-day maintenance, repair, and asset upkeep in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate first response and provide on-site leadership during Estate Upkeep outages affecting asset availability.
- Implement and manage the Ventia Permit to Work System, including site audits and safety documentation reviews.
- Participate in subcontractor and project quality control, ensuring scope accuracy and value for money.
- Facilitate site access for subcontractors, including inductions, provision of drawings/maps, and escorting as required.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key client and customer representatives on base.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of work-related information into relevant systems.
- Undertake other duties as requested by the Infrastructure Services Manager.
Skills & Experience
- Trade or tertiary qualifications, or relevant experience in one or more of the following: Carpentry, Electrical, Building, Plumbing, or General Maintenance.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining positive client relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to computerised systems.
- Experience with Permit to Work systems; qualifications in a high-risk work discipline are highly regarded.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence required.
