About the role

The Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in collaborating with the Head of Financial Reporting & Analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis. By providing clear interpretation of financial results and addressing stakeholder needs, the manager contributes to the overall success of the business and facilitates informed decision-making with the following responsibilities;

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Working with and supporting the Manager – Budgeting, Forecasting and Capital in the preparation and analysis of key inputs into the organisation’s rolling forecast, scenario assessments as well as the annual budgeting process.
  • Working with members of the leadership team to prepare the detailed analysis and baseline data for each of the central services budget submissions along with trend analysis and commentary.
  • Collaborate with and support the operations team and central procurement/property/hospitality and funding teams to review and analyse data submissions for user in the baseline and periodic forecasting process.
  • Monitor the system integrity of the group budgeting/forecasting tool (Anaplan), exploring opportunities to enhance and optimise.   
  • Build and develop new forecasting scenarios to enhance the reporting and scenario planning within the Anaplan solution.
  • Attend central and regional meetings to understand the underlying business trends/impacts and how current outcomes that may shape and influence the future performance of the group.
  • Manage the quarterly covenant reporting and forecasting of group results against expected results.
  • Monitor market trends/outcomes and summarise these for use by management.

Treasury Function

  • Manage the weekly cash flow forecasting process and forecast short term liquidity requirements.
  • Quarterly calculation of the debt covenant alongside the supporting bank reporting for the information pack to the financiers
  • Half-yearly collation and review of analyst consensus data and key competitor data

Internal System

  • Developing and monitoring the Anaplan system – act as the key user for the solution
  • Monitoring and look for opportunities for improvement of the Power BI and key excel spreadsheet reporting documents across the wider finance team

Project Accounting (as required)

  • Supporting elements of the project accounting process and reporting
  • Support in capturing End of Month accruals for projects
  • Support the End of Month balance sheet account reconciliation processes.

Acquisition and Divestment (as required)

  • Support the collation and baseline analysis of data for opportunities as identified.
  • Support the M+A team by consolidation and reviewing target data – identifying key trends and outcomes.

Special Projects

  • Work across a variety of projects to utilise existing data insights and trends to assist as part of the business planning and strategy processes.

The traits that will help you succeed

  • Tertiary qualification in a Finance related discipline
  • Professional member of CPA, CA or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience
  • Well-developed written communication skills
  • Developed planning and analysis skills
  • Broadly proficient with current technology (including Microsoft Office and general computing skills)
  • Advance Excel and Microsoft BI skills
  • Previous corporate finance/budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Aged Care experience
  • Experience with Epicor, Anaplan, and Power BI
