As a Custody Officer, you will play a vital part in creating a safe and secure environment for detainees. Your role involves ensuring their welfare needs are met while consistently upholding a professional and respectful demeanour.

  • Unique Training Experience: Take advantage of the fully funded Certificate 3 in Correctional Services, enhancing your skills and opening doors to new opportunities.
  • Paid Training: Enjoy 6 weeks of fully paid training, equipping you with the necessary skills for this unique role.
  • Pay increase after training: Start at $27.35 during training, increasing to $29.50 post-training.  
  • Regional Allowance: An extra $10,189 per annum spread over your fortnightly wage payments.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Safely transport and supervise detainees during critical activities.
  • Participate in court activities for security requirements.
  • Manage conflict and communicate with empathy, making a positive impact on the lives of detainees.
  • Value diversity and display a fair and open-minded attitude towards detainees in custody.
  • Provide safety and security for Persons in Custody, staff, employees, and members of the public.
  • Enjoy the variety of performing walking and mobile patrols of a designated area.
  • Be responsible for supervising people in custody, escorting them to appointments or court appearances, and maintaining accurate records.

What do we need from you?

  • Availability to train full time for 6 weeks in Perth
  • Commitment to a minimum of 12 months to obtain qualifications: We value your dedication and commitment to your professional growth.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical, including a drug & alcohol test: Ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members and detainees is our top priority.
