About the role

We have a permanent opportunity for a Technical Advisor – Technical Writing to join our Asset Requirements team based in Leederville. In this role you will create technical documentation, including manuals and work instructions in support of the capital program, to enable the safe and correct operation, maintenance, and control of Water Corporation assets in compliance with regulatory requirements.

What the role will involve

  • Develop documentation such as Operations and Maintenance Manuals, Work Instructions and Functional Control Descriptions as required by capital projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and follow standard templates and forms in support of the delivery of technical documentation relating to Water Corporation assets.
  • Ensure that technical documentation complies with Asset Handover Guidelines and Water Corporation styles and standards.
  • Provide technical expertise in discussions and workshops on the development of documentation and handover processes, to ensure that the project delivers quality technical documentation that meets the needs of the end user.
  • Analyse and provide feedback on current templates and processes to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
  • Engage with key project stakeholders to ensure that agreed technical documentation deliverables are provided in accordance with the project timelines and end-user requirements.
  • Ensure that assigned tasks are being progressed and reviewed in line with project targets to ensure that overall strategic timelines are being met.
  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring that all work is undertaken with safety as the priority, where no injury is considered acceptable, and all activities are undertaken without compromising health and safety.
  • Contribute to Business Unit safety initiatives by updating relevant documentation as required.
  • Identify and address safety improvements within the Business Unit, especially where appropriate technical documentation may be of use.
  • Provide specialist advice to Project Managers, TA-ADs and Operational personnel on matters relating to the production of quality technical documentation.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Water Corporation engineering policies, standards, and manuals.

Key skills and experience

You’ll hold a tertiary level qualification in a relevant scientific or engineering field, OR extensive experience creating technical documentation.

You’ll have substantial experience in an engineering/scientific role where extensive writing of technical or scientific documents was required. Ideally in water/wastewater treatment. Additionally, you will have the ability to work autonomously and manage your own personal project portfolio.
