We have a permanent opportunity for a Technical Advisor – External Approvals to lead, review and enable the delivery of our projects in the Minor Works Program (Regional, state-wide). Your focus will be to:

  • Provide environmental and external approvals advice, guidance, and support to the region across monitoring, investigation, approvals, compliance, and contract management.
  • Tools such as ArcGIS and Agol are used regularly to review project sites and surrounds, considering potential environmental and external approval impacts.
  • Influence the development and approvals across the minor works Program, you will build and drive positive and collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders, service providers and customers. These teams include Aboriginal Heritage, Environmental Business Unit, Native Title and Procurement and Property.
  • Influence and develop process improvements for External Approval assessments, where you can bring new efficiencies on how we achieve our external approval process.
  • Manage the environmental management system and all reporting associated with environmental obligations

The successful incumbent will be proactive, with the ability to prioritise workloads and be able to multi-task with a solution focused mindset.

The fundamentals of this role

  • Develop and maintain a strategic outlook for the external approval process for our Minor Works Program, working closely with our internal stakeholders and customers
  • Facilitate and enable the External Approvals Process for projects in the regional minor projects program, to ensure the timely delivery of our Projects
  • Provide advice on external approvals issues and compliance
  • Provide expertise, as required by Project Managers, in discussions with regulatory agencies to facilitate regulatory approvals
  • Identify, influence and co-ordinate strategic or grouped submissions with a view to support the efficient delivery of the program (e.g., bundling approvals for like-for-like projects)
  • Facilitate and enable the External Approvals Process for projects in the regional minor projects program

Ideally, you will have

A degree level qualification in an Environmental or related discipline, along with considerable experience providing end to end external approvals support to operating and/or capital projects in a large organisation. ArcGIS experience desirable.
