About the role

A permanent leadership opportunity has become available along the coastal city of Geraldton, a town surrounded by natural beauty including beautiful beaches, diving atolls, rangelands and wildflowers.

Reporting to the open and transparent management style of the Manager - Operations Support, Mid West Region, this is a dynamic role that provides leadership, coordination and direction to a team of technical professionals and semi-professional people in the critical disciplines of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering as well as supporting asset acquisition and delivery.

This team provides key support to a frontline operational team working across all areas of Water and Wastewater assets within the Coastal Midlands, Geraldton and Gascoyne districts stretching from the coastal town of Lancelin, through to Exmouth and east to Meekatharra. You will have the opportunity travel within the region as well as to Perth for forums to collaborate with TLs from other regions.

What you can expect with this role

The focus of the role is to lead, plan and manage the functions of the team including working with key stakeholders across the business to meet the required business outcomes to deliver value to our customers and community. The position requires travel around 20% of the time within the Mid West Region, including visits to Water Corporation’s head office in Leederville.

This position will suit a flexible and out of the box thinking person who is experienced in leading and managing a diverse high performing team to meet commitments and effectively prioritise to maximise outcomes.

Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • Experience at a supervisor or team leader level leading a team of professional and/or semi-professional people
  • Tertiary level qualification in an engineering related discipline with substantial experience in a large engineering based organisation
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of infrastructure assets and systems
  • Well developed conceptual and analytical skills
  • Demonstrates the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high performance culture
  • Exercises advanced interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
