About the role:

We are seeking a Senior Engineer – OT Design to provide definition, design and technical co-ordination services for OT / SCADA and instrumentation infrastructure design and provide technical support and advice.

Reporting to the TL – OT Design, you will undertake the preparation of design briefs and design specifications for the engagement of process control consultants / system integrators for the detailed design and delivery of OT/SCADA systems.

You will have an interest and knowledge in communications technology, networks, and with a good understanding of how OT / SCADA systems are configured. With sound knowledge of the engineering design process from requirements to asset handover, you will be front and centre of design within the OT space.

In this is a 12 months fixed term opportunity, you’ll get to enjoy our flexible working arrangements, including 40% work from home, which means you’ll have more time for the important things in life.

Key skills and experience:

  • Degree level qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Design experience and understanding of the system engineering design process from user requirements to delivery.
  • Good knowledge and experience in engineering design, and configuration for implementation of OT/SCADA communications and peer to peer communications for control and monitoring of water/ wastewater schemes.
  • Experience in water / wastewater related engineering with experience in OT / SCADA and Instrumentation design.
  • Relevant experience in and sound knowledge in design management and technical advisor role, and in the preparation and review of technical reports and tender specifications for water/wastewater/utility industry infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices relating to the design and commissioning of OT / SCADA and Control Systems with particular emphasis on instrumentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate successful outcomes with stakeholders of all levels.

What the role will involve

  • Lead and provide guidance in the development and maintenance of engineering design criteria, design standards and manuals for OT/SCADA, Control and Instrumentation within the agreed budgetary and time constraints.
  • Prepare design briefs and design specifications for the engagement of consultants, evaluate consultant proposals and report appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Lead, develop and deliver strategic reports and designs for the solution of infrastructure problems using in-house or external resources.
  • Monitor definition, design, and tender document performance for OT / SCADA, Control and Instrumentation works within agreed time and budget constraints, encourage incorporation of innovative technology and ensure world best practice.
  • Examine tenders for OT / SCADA, Control and instrumentation works and make recommendations.
  • Lead and manage designs by consultants and review outputs and performance for conformity to requirements, appropriate design criteria, appropriate design standards, client requirements and to agreed time and cost.
