An exciting and full-time permanent opportunity based in the Southwest Region as a Team Leader – Operations Engineering has become available in the Bunbury Regional Office.

Reporting to the Manager Operations Support, this is a dynamic role that provides leadership, coordination, and direction to the region’s operations engineering team.

The team is made up of specialists who give advice /support associated with the business’s Civil, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines and as such the team provides key support to a frontline operational team working across all areas associated with providing Water, Wastewater and Drainage services in the region.

The focus of the role is to lead, plan and manage the functions of the team including working with key stakeholders across the business to meet the required business outcomes and to deliver value to our customers and community.

This position will suit a collaborative person who is experienced in leading and managing a diverse high performing team and can meet commitments and effectively prioritise work to maximise outcomes.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity available from 6th January 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

People Management:

Optimise the management, development, and deployment of people to ensure the team has the capability to deliver required business outcomes now and in the future.

Safety:

Demonstrate leadership by ensuring all work is undertaken with safety as the priority, where no injury is considered acceptable, and all activities are undertaken without compromising health and safety.

Technical Support:

Lead and manage the teams staffing and deployment to ensure the efficient delivery of operational technical support and advice, project management and work program services as required by the business.

Asset Investigations:

Responsible for determining the optimal solution for treatment of identified gaps pertaining to asset condition, risk, performance and/or compliance.

Stakeholder Management:

Foster strong relationships with operations, peers and central process groups and build collaborative relationships with other key stakeholders to build and drive positive business outcomes.

Experience and Qualifications:

Degree level qualification in relevant discipline such as engineering, and considerable experience in leading, coordinating and providing operational and support services within a large multi-disciplined service organisation.

OR

Tertiary level qualification in a relevant discipline, and substantial experience in leading, coordinating and providing technical and support services within a large multi-disciplined service organisation.

Ideally, you will possess the following skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of asset management principles and practices as they relate to the water industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a broad range of activities with demonstrated issue resolution.
  • Proven capability to manage, develop and deploy people to enhance business capability.
  • The values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high-performance culture.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills together with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
