About the role

At Water Corporation, our Development Services Business Unit (DSBU) is the centre of expertise for strategic land planning and the servicing of land and buildings. DSBU deliver land and building servicing processes to ensure customers, both large and small, receive high quality services, and in doing so generate in excess of $150m in annual revenues for the Corporation. We have a permanent opportunity to lead this critical business unit and function to Water Corporation and play a key role in supporting the delivery of government and community priorities around land and housing supply.

You’ll be responsible for delivering mutually beneficial outcomes for our customers, stakeholders, and the state through efficient and sustainable land development, considering both present and future needs as they relate to quality, financially sustainable and well planned water services infrastructure. Reporting to the General Manager - Assets Planning and Delivery Group, you will have a strong track record of using your stakeholder management skills and network to deliver results.

What the role will involve

  • Actively engage with stakeholders across the land and building development industry and across government to ensure Water Corporation’s interests are represented
  • Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of land and building servicing outcomes that meet and exceed the expectations of customers and stakeholders
  • As part of our leadership team, deliver the group plan and corporate strategy for the benefit of Water Corporation, driving greater value for our customers, community and owner
  • Oversee the facilitation for the delivery of developer delivered headworks assets
  • Monitor growth and development of service demands and requirements in relation to land servicing
  • Responsibility for the negotiation of funding and servicing arrangements for all private land development proposals submitted to Water Corporation
  • Provide statewide growth projections for land development together with forecasts for the value of works handed over, and infrastructure contributions
  • Lead and ensure all risks are managed appropriately and that we comply with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements

Key skills and experience

Extensive experience in customer and stakeholder management is essential. You’ll should also have a degree in engineering, urban planning, management, or related discipline, along with substantial experience and existing relationships in land planning and development and/or working across government and industry to drive community outcomes.

Experience in statutory and legislative procedures relevant to land planning and development, and knowledge of the water industry is desirable. Your demonstrated leadership, and previous team management, and ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence both internally and externally to ensure success in this role.
