About the role:

As an Analyst in Financial Accounting and Reporting, you’ll become a valued member of our team, dedicated to crafting the Corporation’s comprehensive financial reports with meticulous care, ensuring they meet all statutory requirements. You’ll also play a key role in upholding our financial policies.

Given the exciting demands of this role, especially during the half-year review of accounts and preparations for external audits, you’ll primarily be based full-time at JTWC. What the role will involve:

  • Preparing the daily banking reconciliation ready for end of day review.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Corporation’s monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Undertaking detailed analysis and perform monthly reviews and checking functions to ensure that all accounting records are correctly kept, balanced and reconciled.
  • Identify, calculate and control clearing accounts to prepare monthly journal adjustment entries.
  • Providing financial and accounting services within Finance, incorporating all budgeting, forecasting, analysis and commentary related to the balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist the Asset Accounting team with processing asset transactions – capital project expensing, asset settlements, asset retirements, asset transfers, fleet acquisitions, developer handover works, and accelerated depreciation calculations.
  • Analyse fixed asset data and create ad hoc reports and trend analysis when requested by stakeholders, as well as provide commentary on the relevant outcomes.
  • Being an active part of the year-end audit experience by assisting with auditor requests and queries related to the balance sheet accounts and supporting detail.
  • Assist with the ad-hoc queries that come into two shared inboxes within Financial Accounting.

Key skills and experience:

To truly shine in this role, you should hold a degree-level qualification in commerce or business. Ideally, you’re also on the path to obtaining a CPA or CA qualification. Your critical thinking and analytical skills will be key in navigating our diverse reporting requirements. Effective communication is a must, as you’ll be engaging with various stakeholders. While previous experience in financial accounting and reporting is a plus, having a keen understanding of trends, developments, and relevant legislation impacting commercialised government trading enterprises will set you apart.
