About the role: 
As the Water Quality Specialist, you will lead critical programs and projects that support public health, compliance, and innovation across our water networks. In this key role, you’ll provide expert advice across all aspects of water quality - developing and improving systems, programs, and initiatives to ensure the safe, compliant, and sustainable delivery of drinking and recycled water. Working collaboratively across the business, your leadership will help drive Unitywater’s strategic ambitions through evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of Unitywater’s Drinking Water Management System, ensuring ISO 22000 and HACCP compliance.
  • Drive performance and compliance in Recycled Water Management Plans, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and governance frameworks.
  • Champion innovative recycled water initiatives to improve financial and environmental sustainability practices.
  • Analyse, report and interpret water quality data to inform decision-making and operational planning.
  • Mentor and support advisors across the business on complex water quality and public health matters.
  • Engage effectively with regulators and internal stakeholders, providing expert scientific advice and leadership.

  
   
About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualifications in science or engineering, with a focus on chemistry, microbiology, or biochemistry.
  • Extensive experience in leading the development, design and implementation of water quality strategy, projects, reporting and governance within a collaborative working model.
  • Proven success in leading complex water quality initiatives, and co-ordinating a multitude of diverse and complex tasks and projects in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to negotiate, lead teams, and manage performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, including statutory reporting, HACCP principles, and legislative frameworks.
  • Familiarity with integrated data platforms such as GIS, SCADA, and Power BI.
  • Strong technical writing ability – able to produce clear, accurate reports and guidelines for diverse audiences.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
