About the role:
Provide technical advice to the business and perform ongoing reporting and compliance. Liaise with stakeholders regarding potential environmental impacts involved with capital works and operations functions through application of legal interpretation, physical inspection, water quality sampling, analytical interpretation, and other assessment methods.   
The role requires travel throughout our service areas, City of Morton Bay, Sunshine Coat Council and Noosa Shire Council as needed daily.
Key functions of the role include:

  • Environmental advice to the business (e.g. Legal, systems, design, strategic)
  • Assist with incident investigation and reporting and environmental compliance reporting.
  • Capital delivery environmental management plan and ISO 14001 assurance audits.
  • Provide technical advice and support to operational management and staff, to ensure compliance with Environmental legislation and operating licences.
  • Review environmental data, specifically water quality data and produce high quality written reports including preparing Receiving Environment Monitoring Program reports in accordance with the Regulator’s guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and review existing or new procedures for evaluating compliance with applicable legal or governance requirements.
  • Support the business to address actual and potential systems and licence non-conformity.
  • Implement corrective action planning, tracking and closure of actions as required.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement and innovation activities.
  • Support and role model the HSEQ policies, procedures, and practices of Unitywater as amended from time to time.

About you:

  • Qualification in the Environment field 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental legislation, operating licenses, standards and best environmental practice in relation to water and sewerage projects and services.
  • Demonstrated experience with undertaking monitoring programs, analysis of data, investigation, reporting and problem solving, specifically in assessing results and reporting on Receiving Environment Monitoring Programs.
  • Strong ability to identify regulatory approvals and practical environmental requirements for predominantly linear infrastructure.
  • Experience in evaluating environmental compliance of Contractors and field crews on large construction projects through to routine maintenance activities.
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in a wide range of reporting software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
