About the role:
Facilitate the corporate strategy function at Unitywater, including:

  • Manage the enterprise strategy framework and its key tools including the 2030 Strategic Ambition, Corporate Strategies (and their action plans), and annual Business Unit plans, to ensure they remain relevant, aligned and effective.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on the external environment for events and trends that will influence Unitywater’s strategic direction and priorities.
  • Use a range of techniques and tools to maintain sight of trends and events within the internal and external environment that could challenge or change the suitability and effectiveness of our key strategy tools, strategic direction and business priorities, and bring these insights back within the business for understanding and exploration.
  • Coordinate the design and delivery of regular processes to review and refresh the key strategy tools so they remain fit for purpose and responsive to internal and external context, including an annual Business Unit planning process.
  • Coordinate inputs from contributors to Unitywater’s strategy function from all areas of the business.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of the Strategic Ambition, including goals, capabilities, final and interim states.
  • Organise and facilitate strategy events, including strategy development sessions, workshops, and conferences.
  • Facilitate the design and delivery of communication and engagement plans.

About you:
To contribute to Unitywater’s values of Reliability, Safety, Honesty & Integrity, Efficiency, One Team, Innovation, you will demonstrate the following skills and qualities for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Strategy, Business, Management, Economics or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic projects.
  • Extensive relevant business experience. 
  • Experience within the water utilities industry, or other utilities service provider.
  • Experience leading corporate strategy, program management or transformation functions in a large commercial organisation.
  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex problems, and conceptualise new approaches within commercial, regulatory and political context.  
  • High level analytical and problem-solving ability, including the ability to understand different perspectives, identify synergies, potential issues and suggest innovative strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships and provide strategic advice to senior leaders.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and be able to lead while inspiring and influencing Unitywater’s stakeholders and diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business objectives and strategies and align innovation and development objectives.
