Medical Claims Assessor

The purpose of this role is to assess Medical claims such as simplified billing/access gap claims lodged for payment by medical providers in a prompt, accurate and efficient manner. To provide advice and assistance to providers on all matters pertaining to claims and benefits payable. This a great role, reporting to a supportive team leader, in a fun and welcoming team.

Teachers Health was created by teachers for teachers over 65 years ago and is the only health fund exclusively for the education community. As a not-for-profit health fund, we exist for our members covering the lives of over 400,000 teachers, education staff & their families.
  
What will you do? 
Some of your main tasks and responsibilities will be;

  • Maintain a high standard of claims assessment through accurate, efficient and timely processing of medical claims.
  • Provide advice and assistance to health service providers in relation to benefits and conditions of the fund.
  • Contribute to the effective operations of the Health Insurance Business Unit
  • Accurate assessment of simplified billing claims through the verification process and ECLIPSE system
  • Prepare, review and complete medical claims through the verification process and ECLIPSE system
  • Compliance with relevant legislation, including the Federal and State Acts
  • Correspond with providers via e-mail, telephone or hard copy mail

What do you need? /What are we looking for?

  • Previous claims experience is highly desirable but not essential
  • Experience in PHI is highly desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in the medical industrious would be advantageous
  • Previous HAMBS experience would be highly regarded 
  • Data entry experience would be highly regarded 
  • A positive can do attitude is a MUST!
