About the position:
As the Risk Business Partner, you'll be instrumental in fostering a strong risk culture. You'll provide expert advice and facilitate the identification, analysis, and management of risks that could impact our strategic objectives and operational resilience. You'll partner closely with key stakeholders across our business, embedding contemporary risk management practices to protect our operations, the environment, and our critical infrastructure.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Act as a trusted risk advisor and dedicated business partner for leadership teams, risk champions, and all people managing risks.
- Partner with water resource managers and environmental specialists, offering expert risk insights on climate and hydrological models.
- Enable our environmental strategy by ensuring we proactively identify and mitigate risks, supporting our sustainability goals.
- Facilitate the identification, assessment, and articulation of current and emerging risks relevant to the business unit's strategy, projects, and operations.
- Provide guidance on risk analysis treatments and control effectiveness, ensuring alignment with Snowy Hydro's Enterprise Risk Framework.
- Drive the effective implementation of the Enterprise Risk Framework and additional tools.
- Manage the continuous improvement of the organisation's Line 1 risk management tools within the business unit.
- Facilitate key risk processes, including risk and control self-assessments, incident management, and key risk indicator (KRI) monitoring.
- Champion a strong risk culture by promoting risk awareness, accountability, and proactive risk management practices.
- Support the business in effective identification, recording, investigation, and resolution of risks, incidents and issues.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Line 2 (Group Risk, Compliance) and Line 3 (Internal Audit) functions to ensure effective teamwork, collaboration, and information flow.
We’re ideally looking for someone with:
- Ideally (but not mandatory) a Bachelor's degree in Science (Hydrology, Environmental Science, etc.), Finance or relevant disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in a risk management role, preferably within the energy, utilities, or other critical infrastructure sectors.
- Expertise in environmental, hydrological, or financial risk, comfortable with the challenges of climate impacts.
- Technical domain expertise combined with an enthusiasm for the value risk management can bring to the organisation.
- Expertise in facilitating the identification, assessment, and articulation of current and emerging risks relevant to business strategy and operations.
- Proven experience in providing expert guidance on risk analysis, treatments, and control effectiveness.
- A demonstrated ability to champion a strong risk culture and promote risk awareness and accountability.
- A strong background in building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, which could include Line 1, Line 2 (Group Risk, Compliance), and Line 3 (Internal Audit) functions.
