Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter


Join Skout Solutions and Ventia in safely conducting and recording maintenance tasks on a vast range of equipment fleets including light, medium, heavy, and armoured vehicles at The Lavarack defence Base in Townsville.

Work full-time as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter for 3 months initially with the possibility of permanency from thereon if the work requirement continues. Our mechanical crew on the workshop floor are responsible for the exciting job of maintaining an array of different Defence vehicles in an awesome team environment where no two days are the same.

Some of the benefits include-

  • Competitive pay rate per hour of $52.47 per hour.
  • Flexible on agreed start time, anywhere between 6am and 8am

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Conduct minor body and trim repairs
  • Test, clean, reassemble and adjust repaired or replaced parts.
  • Repair, replace and overhaul worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection.
  • Inspect vehicles and issue road worthiness certificates

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required

  • Supply a recognised Trade Certificate III of proficiency (Heavy Vehicle Mechanic) or Diesel Fitting.
  • Ability to promote a positive HSE culture in the workplace
  • Experience within a maintenance environment would be highly regarded.
  • You must be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
