Out of Hospital Relationship Manager


The Relationship Manager Out of Hospital Care is responsible for managing relationships and contractual arrangements with an assigned portfolio of hospital substitute treatment providers with support from the Senior Manager Out of Hospital Care.

About the Role

The Relationship Manager Out of Hospital Care is responsible for managing relationships and contractual arrangements with an assigned portfolio of hospital substitute treatment providers with support from the Senior Manager Out of Hospital Care. This role involves delivering strategies, tactics, and leading negotiations of commercial contracts with Providers.

On a day-to-day basis, you will establish communication protocols to ensure strong business relations are fostered, appropriately maintained, and managed with Providers. You will develop and maintain effective relationships and communication with key stakeholders to ensure continuous engagement. Additionally, you will develop strategies in response to Providers' pain points, strategic objectives, and tactics to achieve the best outcome during negotiations. You will deliver targeted hospital efficiency programs through the delivery of hospital avoidance strategies to contribute towards the containment of HCF benefit outlays and premiums. Leading the negotiation of agreements, recommending and implementing efficient models of care and funding arrangements that contribute to a positive member experience will also be part of your responsibilities.

You will provide strategic advice to HCF stakeholders on Provider movements, industry trends, competitor analysis, and drivers to inform projections and demand profiles for hospital products particular to hospital substitute services. Maintaining a pipeline of new prospects and actively pursuing agreements with Providers for inclusion in the hospital substitute service network, in accordance with HCF purchasing framework, will be essential. You will develop and implement key performance indicators and evaluation frameworks to ensure adherence to terms and conditions and reporting requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner. Additionally, you will prepare management information reports to summarise the performance of the Provider network, from a spend, quality, and member experience perspective. Ensuring the maintenance of contractual records and documentation, including the receipt and control of all correspondence, will be crucial.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need a tertiary qualification in business, law, health management, or extensive relationship management experience. You should possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a proven capacity to build collaborative, trust-based relationships. Strong internal stakeholder management and a collaborative approach to ensuring business success are essential. You should have demonstrated experience in designing and managing performance frameworks to ensure active monitoring of Provider agreements, as well as developing communication protocols and strategies to achieve optimum negotiation outcomes. The ability to interpret and enforce contract terms, analyze performance issues, and negotiate commercially viable changes while maintaining the integrity of the partnership is crucial. Experience working collaboratively with senior executives on leading the implementation of complex change programs is also required. Additionally, excellent numeracy skills and the ability to analyse and interpret data to identify trends and underpin hypotheses are necessary. Knowledge of the Health Insurance Industry and Private Hospital Industry is desirable.
