About the Role


As a Life Claims Assessor, you will assess and manage all claims from complex accident, death, terminal illness, trauma and income protection products in accordance with the policy and procedures, company standards and relevant legislation. You will assess and pay claims and assist on product and claim enquiries.


This is a fixed term, part time role, based in the Sydney CBD. This is a hybrid role, working three days a week.

Responsibilities:
• Manage all claims with particular focus on complex living benefit claims and Member product and claim enquiries
• Participate in the development of the HCF Life business plan by contributing ideas and offering expertise in identifying opportunities and challenges in the life insurance industry
• Continuously review claims processes to optimise claims efficiency and performance
• Be continuously aware of member needs and be able to continually refine and deliver quality customer service experience
• Actively engage, and cooperate, with relevant management and stakeholders to gain feedback on how to improve the member experience
• Follow and support processes and guidelines to efficiently manage the HCF Life Claims process and support the HCF Life claims philosophy
• Support a culture of continuous process improvement
• Understand and comply with the external operating and regulatory environment.

About You


You will have previous experience in assessing claims and strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand medical conditions, and interpret medical information on policy definitions
• Significant claims assessment experience in financial service industry with particular experience in the management of Income Protection claims
• Demonstrated ability to understand and analyse an individual’s financial information in relation to Income Protection claim assessments
• Flexibility and commitment to providing high quality claims management and customer service to HCF members.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to carry out tasks with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Word and Excel
