Duties

🧐Role Specifics

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, with detailed analysis of business performance.
  • Finance Business Partnering: Aligning financial strategies with business objectives through data presentation and insights to influence decision-making.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, prepare regular forecasts, and update financial models to reflect changes in market dynamics and business strategies
  • Cost Analysis: Analyse costs related to customer acquisition, platform operations, R&D, administrative and marketing efforts across the business. Provide insights into ways to optimize spending and increase profitability.
  • Revenue and Profitability Tracking: Monitor and report on the financial performance of different revenue streams, including transaction fees, subscriptions, and advertising revenue.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, product, operations) to provide financial insights and support business decisions with robust data analysis and reporting.
  • KPI Reporting: Develop and track key financial and operational KPIs specific to the business, including user acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), churn and contribution margins.
  • Financial Control: Ensure accurate and timely posting of financial transactions, manage the general ledger, and perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Banking and Cash Management: Manage client cash balances in line with regulatory requirements along with the day-to-day banking and payment structures for the business.
  • Compliance and Taxation: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax requirements relevant to the business, liaising with external auditors, tax advisors and tax authorities where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate financial processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation and increased efficiency.
  • Monthly Payroll Adjustments: Collaborating on monthly payroll reviews with P&C and Payroll.

✍️Skills & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (MYOB would be an advantage, but not necessary), advanced Excel skills, and experience working with financial modeling tools.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Experience in a high-growth tech startup or marketplace environment.
  • Understanding of subscription-based and transaction-based revenue models.
  • Familiarity with key SaaS metrics such as CAC, LTV and churn.
  • Experience using Metabase.
