Sr. Director, Strategic Relationship Lead
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Supply Chain & External Supply Integration, as the Sr. Director, Strategic Relationship Lead, you will be critical to the success of the Enterprise level collaboration between CSL and a major life sciences service provider. You will be responsible for the relationship management of a large-scale strategic relationship focused on the global collaboration between CSL and the major life sciences service provider. The position facilitates setting the strategy for managing the partnership and ensures effective governance practices are in place for the Internal and External stakeholder groups. You are required to possess advanced commercial and financial acumen, executive engagement, and strategic planning capabilities to drive material value enhancement outcomes for both organizations. You will be required to oversee and drive value through the service provider's relationship across CSL’s Operations, Quality Control, Research and Development, Procurement, Process Development and Contract Manufacturing. You will have high visibility to and frequent interactions with the C-suite of CSL. This is a hybrid role, which offers a combination of an onsite and remote work schedule. #LI-hybrid
The Role:
- Sets up a multi-year strategic plan to deliver value for both companies with a relationship value of approximately $500m p.a. with input from the Global Leadership Group or delegates.
- Responsible for governance, innovation, and business planning and reporting across the short, mid, and long-term timeframe.
- Oversees the spend forecasting and facilitates actions to close any shortfalls to collaboration targets.
- Strategically manages the relationship in the spirit of a Strategic Relationship and orchestrates the collaboration at all organizational levels between CSL and the life sciences service provider including to the CEO.
- Advises CSL resources and governs the complex commercial agreements in place between both companies.
- Tracks strategic commitments from both sides in terms of value creation and delivery timelines and always in accordance with the agreements.
- Coordinates the award of new businesses to Partners, in cross functional collaboration with Sourcing and Procurement whilst always ensuring alignment with the Collaboration Agreement principles and obligations.
- Resolves and mediates areas of dispute between the parties and helps to facilitate the end-to-end governance of the relationship and minimizing escalations.
- Prepares periodic reports, with input from all business units and functions that detail the performance of the relationship from a reliability, innovation, quality and benefit realization perspective. At a minimum, prepares a detailed bi-annual report on all Collaboration aspects and a quarterly health check report showing project and operational performance.
- Works with relevant project and functional managers to ensure the Collaboration is effectively and efficiently operating at the daily business level.
- Follows-up on all partnership activity including the tracking, documentation and status reporting of all sub-collaborations.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, science, business, or related field (or equivalent experience required), advanced degree preferred and/or an MBA with at least 15 years of senior leadership.
- Substantial prior experience in managing complex collaborations/alliances with corporate partners in settings from academia to multinational biopharma is required.
- Must demonstrate maturity and seasoned judgment in reaching critical decisions.
- Excellent people management skills and ability to align people and resources towards organizational success.
- A wide degree of creativity and strategic thinking is expected.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a changing environment and experience in a global Matrix organization.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
