Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Your Role
CSL is hiring an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to provide a number of support services to the manufacturing facilities and the Engineering departments at CSL Behring (Australia) Broadmeadows site.
You will work in the Electrical Maintenance Group within Maintenance & Utilities - M2U. This group provides the services to support and maintain all the HV, Main LV, Back-up Facilities and Power SCADA Field Bus network infrastructures on site. This includes the management of the Preventative Maintenance program, and Hazardous Area E&I technical SME support.
Reporting directly to the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager, will have a site maintenance planning and scheduling mindset and familiarity in working in an engineering environment.
Your Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager you will:
- Achieve the objectives for the post, as agreed with the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager under the annual Workplan Objectives program.
- Plan and manage the day-to-day activities of the electrical section.
- Be the first point of contact after hours regarding electrical power supply issues. If required arrange for suitably competent staff to attend to the problem.
- Supervise the work of contract staff engaged on electrical/instrumentation maintenance activities.
- Arrange specialist training of technicians in plant/craft related subjects to ensure the required level of competence.
- Provide technical advice about electrical issues.
- Prepare engineering reports and proposals for, and applied solutions to, plant problems.
- Develop and maintain documentation relevant to the electrical/instrumentation teams.
- Liaise with outside suppliers through the Purchasing.
- Develop sound engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, corporate, and departmental policies and procedures relevant to the electrical/instrumentation teams.
- Inform the Senior Manager Electrical immediately of matters that have potential to affect plant availability, product quality, work relationships or the health and safety of personnel.
- Encompass the ‘modern’ maintenance philosophies with a focus on proactive maintenance strategies.
- Assist the maintenance department in achieving and maintaining “World Class” maintenance standards.
- Collaborate with the other groups regarding plant access and availability to assist with job planning and scheduling.
- In consultation with the Senior Manager Electrical, address all HR matters including learning/development plans and performance management issues for the members of the electrical/instrumentation team. This position has direct reports – electrical technicians.
- Assist with the preparation of the maintenance budget and control expenditure of the electrical/instrumentation teams.
Your Experience
- Degree in Engineering (preferably in the electrical discipline) from a recognized tertiary educational institution, together with eligibility for professional membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, or other relevant qualification with demonstrated experience.
- A minimum of five years relevant experience, preferably in a maintenance environment.
- Exposure to a semi or fully automated plant. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite of software applications.
- A sound knowledge of plant fault diagnostic methods.
- A logical/analytical approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems – SAP Fiori preferred.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills in a maintenance environment.
- A commitment to Occupational Health and Safety.
- Solid interpersonal communication skills.
- HV Switching.
- Working knowledge of PLCs and Field Bus Networks.
- Hazardous Area Electrical Plants.
