EHS Specialist – Decommissioning and Start Up | Manufacturing


The Opportunity

CSL (top 5 listed ASX organisation and a leading global biotechnology company) is continuing to invest and grow. Working at Australia’s largest pharmaceutical site, you will be responsible for leading, developing, reviewing and implementing EHS programs, maintaining regulatory compliance, and designing safety into a number of significant capital projects at our CSL Behring Broadmeadows site.

CSL has 2x roles for an initial 12 month period available for experienced EHS professionals to support the start up of a $AUD1 billion, 5 star green rated Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility at Tullamarine (the first of its kind in Australia) and the decommissioning of our complex manufacturing and research facility at our 110 year old foundational site at Parkville.

Reporting to the EHS Director, you will provide EHS project support, guidance and technical knowledge to support decommissioning and start up activities.

Your tasks will include:

  • Support of process safety activities including HAZOP’s study and PSSR (PreStart Safety review)
  • Supporting projects associated with decommissioning activities to ensure EHS considerations are addressed
  • Facilitate co-operation between management and employees in developing and carrying out measures designed to proactively identify and manage closure of EHS issues through relevant committees and teams
  • Actively support internal clients to comply with requirements of relevant EHS legislation
  • Lead deployment of allocated EHS critical programs for decommissioning and start up activities as the EHS representative engaging with engineering
  • Provide assistance to CSL Engineers in developing and reviewing SWMS; in particular when CSL is operating as the Principal Contractor

To be successful you will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Safety, Engineering, Environmental, Science or related field.
  • 5+ years in an EHS role preferably in a construction and commissioning / decommissioning environment
  • Ability to work in a team setting and among multiple department functions that allows for cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
  • Proven experience in your ability to intervene as needed and appropriate to address safety and environmental concerns.
  • Past experience in EHS project management, including design and operational readiness is desirable
