As a Software Engineer – Test Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll help streamline testing processes, enhance system performance, and contribute to the success of our products.

Your duties will include:

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated regression testing procedures to verify builds and deployments.
  • Create scripts for test automation, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and improve efficiency across the software testing lifecycle.
  • Manage and log test results, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance based on historical comparisons.
  • Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to promote a DevOps culture and resolve technical challenges.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for test cases, processes, and best practices.
  • Support team development by training members on test engineering practices.

Location: Kensington (Perth) WA, or Marsfield (Sydney) NSW

Salary: AU$114,219.00 - AU$123,605.00 plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term of 2 years

To be considered you will need:

Essential:

Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed.

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree relevant to software engineering/computer science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in use of scripting tools for task automation.
  • Proficiency building and maintaining test frameworks and analysing test results.
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (e.g. Docker).
  • Experience deploying and operating applications in Linux environments.

Desirable:

  • Experience in software application development.
  • Experience with devops practices.
  • Experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) or cloud computing environments.
  • Experience with software for scientific data processing.
  • Interest in astronomy.
