The Opportunity

The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) supports NASA’s Deep Space Network, enabling critical space missions. Operated by CSIRO, our ICT Team ensures seamless IT services that keep these missions running smoothly.

As an ICT Support Officer, you’ll work across:

  • Server infrastructure & networks – maintaining mission-critical systems
  • End-user support – assisting staff with IT issues and requests
  • Unified communications – managing telephony, email, video conferencing, and radios
  • Collaboration & data management – supporting tools that enable global space operations
  • Compute & storage services – managing cloud and on-premises environments
  • Cyber security & IP operations – ensuring network safety and efficiency
  • Audio-visual & paging systems – supporting essential communication tools

Your duties will include:

  • Provide Level 1 IT support, troubleshoot desktop/laptop issues, install/configure systems, and maintain documentation.
  • Assist System Administrators in maintaining administrative LAN and ensuring network-attached device reliability.
  • Deploy, configure, patch, and update desktops/laptops while maintaining hardware/software asset records.
  • Support server installations, updates, and configurations under direction.
  • Work effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure smooth IT operations.
  • Adhere to CSIRO’s Code of Conduct, safety policies, and diversity initiatives.
  • Assist with additional ICT tasks as required.

Location: Tidbinbilla, ACT

Salary: AU$74,800 to AU$101,202 pa, plus Tracking Station Allowance of $133.81 per week, plus annual Antenna Allowance, plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Indefinite, 9-day fortnight, full-time

Essential

Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed.

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent relevant work experience in desktop or systems administration, or the ability to gain relevant qualifications
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to support clients via in-person, phone or remote assistance tools to with desktop and/or mobile devices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft desktop/laptop maintenance in a Microsoft domain environment
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse multi-skilled team
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills and work across a diverse range of tasks and activities
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation

Desirable:

  • Knowledge, skills, or experience with cyber security disciplines
  • Demonstrated help desk or fault diagnosis experience
