CSIRO's Health & Biosecurity research undertakes world-class multidisciplinary science, develops relevant IP and deploys innovative solutions through our national and global networks to address the complexity and interdependencies of human, animal and environmental health and biosecurity challenges across Australia and the world.

The Australian e-Health Research Centre within the Health and Biosecurity business is a world-class centre undertaking research and development across health and biomedical informatics and health services. CSIRO’s Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) is transforming the way healthcare is delivered and contributing to multiple projects undertaken within AEHRC and our partner organisations.

We are seeking to appoint highly motivated Business Analysts within our Smart Health Check team to work closely with AEHRC internal team and our collaborators and stakeholders in the creation, development, management and support of open data exchange standards and capabilities to meet the current and future needs for Australia’s health system. As a Business Analyst, your primary focus will be to undertake analysis that will contribute to the delivery of effective software and standards to drive improved data quality, use and uptake of First Nations peoples' health checks. The team is distributed across multiple cities and though Brisbane is preferred, you can work from other locations too like Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra.

Your duties will include:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including clinicians, industry and government, to gather and document requirements for software, clinical processes and information flows about health assessments
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather business requirements and address any queries.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including software implementers, standards organisations, other agencies, and industry bodies.
  • Provide advice regarding program/project direction for business analysis activities.
  • Identify opportunities to increase the uptake and usage of national FHIR standards and capabilities to meet the current and future needs for Australia’s health system.
  • Develop and maintain support documentation and guidance to communicate complex technical material to our collaborators and customers.
  • Understand and participate in national and international discussions regarding the direction of standards development and implementation.

Location: Brisbane QLD (preferred), Sydney NSW, Canberra ACT, Melbourne VIC can be considered

Salary: AU$131k - AU$157k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term until 30 June 2026

To be considered you will need:

Essential

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Proven ability and experience in delivering business analysis functions within the healthcare industry.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines as well as work cooperatively with others in a high-functioning team to meet team objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong professional and collaborative working relationships.

Desirable

  • Prior experience working with agile software development practices, and
  • Familiarity with interoperability standards used in the Australian health industry e.g. HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, OAuth, OpenID Connect.
