5 questions in five minutes with Donna Robb

1. What does a typical day involve for you at WTW?

A typical day for me consists of virtual meetings with colleagues both in Australia and other countries across multiple time zones which does mean I have a couple of days a week where my day is not strictly 9 to 5. The rest of the day I will be involved with our offshore team and other functions like IT and Compliance, working on projects that help with business efficiencies. I solve problems for brokers, provide training and act as the contact point for client-facing technology systems as well as being a general contact point when people do not know where to go with a query they have.

2. Can you tell us about your career progression with Willis Towers Watson?

I started with WTW in 2005 as a Senior Account Executive and a few years after I was promoted to Account Manager. In 2017 I was given the opportunity to work with the Operations team on some technology projects and this then flowed into a permanent role in Operations in 2018.

3. How has your work changed or evolved since you first joined Willis Towers Watson?

I may have been with WTW for 16 years but I certainly have not done the same thing throughout that time. When I wanted a change I was fortunate to be able to move to a completely different role, one in which my knowledge and skill set
from broking is an asset but in a very different way. I no longer have a role that is client-facing, with all of my ‘clients’ now colleagues within WTW.

4. What do you like best about working at Willis Towers Watson?

The culture! It is a relaxed atmosphere with colleagues getting along and working together for the good of our clients and WTW. I am grateful that when I wanted a change from broking I had the opportunity to remain at WTW and have a complete change in my everyday work without having to leave a company and the people that I liked working with.

5. Based on your experience, what advice would you give someone considering employment with Willis Towers Watson?

As my longevity shows, I obviously like working at WTW and would recommend working here to anyone that is self-motivated, a good team player, and willing to step up.
