Banquets Manager

Marriott

My journey to relocate from Sydney to Perth wasn’t an easy choice. I have never been to Perth. To me, Perth was just another small city compared to the eastern states. My thoughts was narrow-minded to say the least. The big city of Sydney was where I learnt and experienced all that I knew about hotels. Although, there was still a lot I needed to learn, I was comfortable. I knew that I needed a change and a challenge to get out of my comfort zone. An opportunity came about when Victoria, my General Manager at Four Points Sydney asked if I would like to assist The Ritz-Carlton, Perth as taskforce. I worked in premium brands and select service brands but have never experienced working in luxury brands. The idea of working in a luxury brand hotel was exciting but scary at the same time. I decided to take up the challenge. When I finally arrived at The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, I was instantly amazed as each Lady and Gentleman including the General Manager – Dario embraces the culture and enlivens The Ritz-Carlton brand’s service values. The building was amazing, the concept and the hotel’s signature scent was the first thing I noticed. I was well taken care of by the team during the 4 months I stayed in-house. The warm welcome, genuine care and personalized service provided by the Ladies & Gentlemen is unforgettable and built my loyalty with The Ritz-Carlton brand. I returned to Sydney after my taskforce ended taking with me the special experience that has etched in my memory forever . A few months later, I was offered the Banquets Manager role at The Ritz-Carlton, Perth. It wasn’t the city or the building that helped me made my choice to move from Sydney to Perth – it is always the people who genuinely took care of me when I was there. Perth is a beautiful city yet a different beast and presents a different kind of challenge. I feel honored to be offered the Banquets Manager position and a choice I don’t regret.
