We are now seeking an ICS / DCS Technician at our Geelong Refinery for an 8-month fixed term contract. In this role you will work within the Polymers plant to cover a current team member’s Long Service Leave (January to June 2025) and up to 2 months for handover and specific training.

Job Description

In this role the ICS / DCS Technician (Industrial Control System / Distributed Control System) provides the sole management and support for the Polymers Honeywell DCS. This role is also a key participant in the current Polymers DCS upgrade project. The position is part of the Refinery APC team, reporting into the Refinery Process Engineering Manager, with a dotted line responsibility to the Polymers Engineering Lead.

You will liaise with Polymers Operations personnel, Instrument technicians, Process Engineers, and the DCS vendor (Honeywell). The role maintains and supports the Polymers Level 2 DCS layer (controllers configuration etc.,) and Level 3 DCS layer applications (historian, manufacturing execution software such as plant manager). Plant field instrumentation is supported and maintained by Polymers Instrument Technicians.

This role is essential for the ongoing maintenance and support for the Polymers DCS, enabling ongoing safe operation of the Polymers plant. Additional training will be provided, and it is highly desirable for you to commence prior to the team member’s leave to allow an effective handover.

Qualifications

About you

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or Information Technology.
  • Experience in the management of Information control systems, Distributed control systems or Process Control systems.
  • Ideally Honeywell DCS experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Willing to work collaboratively with all Polymers teams to support safe and reliable Operations.
  • Proficiency in Honeywell TPS/Experion and PHD systems would be an advantage.

Additional skills

  • Problem solving.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Teamwork attitude.
  • Planning – able to take a long-term vision.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft OS, Domain and network administration.
  • Advanced level Microsoft SQL programming and Database administration.
  • Advanced HTML or Java programming.
  • Completion of relevant Honeywell courses (LCN, HPM, PHD Implementation and GUS Display Building, Application Module, Experion Server) would be beneficial.
