Leading Hand Vehicle Mechanic - Defence

A great opportunity for a Leading Hand to join our fully geared Defence Maintenance Contract team based at Pinkenba, QLD

In this role you will lead a team of Vehicle Mechanics and Trade Assistants who work on routine maintenances and repairs on range of military vehicles, including 4WD’s, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles!

About the role

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct Maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification
  • Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials.
  • Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaces parts
  • Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
  • Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection.
  • Inspect vehicles and issue road worthiness certificates

   
About you

  • Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent level (open to Light Vehicle Mechanics)
  • Demonstrated experience on Heavy commercial vehicles
  • Demonstrated ability and practical experience to inspect, repair and maintain Light, Medium and/or Heavy vehicle to a medium level of repair
  • Must possess a current Australian State or Territory class C Driver's Licence
  • You must be an Australian citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance
