Senior Scientist Virology Data Analysis


We’re hiring a Senior Scientist, Virology Data Analysis to join our team in Melbourne. You will deliver genetic and data analysis of viruses to support Seqirus’ SARS-CoV-2 and influenza vaccine platforms.

You will provide a high level of scientific expertise for the Surveillance and Vaccine Development group to support innovation and delivery of business goals, engagement with stakeholders at a local level, and to support departmental compliance.

Additional responsibilities include driving staff development including the provision of scientific and technical guidance, and training less experienced scientists as required.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Serology you will:

  • Undertake genetic, epidemiological and data analysis to support SVVD programs.
  • Prepare reports and data packages to support SVVD programs.
  • Support departmental bioinformatics requirements including but not limited to genetic and data analysis and in silico structural analysis
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholder as required, including scientific and IT colleagues
  • Deliver to deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance for group activities

Your Experience:

  • Degree and experience in relevant discipline, PhD degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in relevant field/industry
  • Requires in-depth conceptual and practical expertise in the areas of, but not limited to, virology, immunology, molecular biology, bioinformatics
  • Extensive experience in genetic analysis including sequence and analysis and molecular modelling required
  • Extensive experience in virology required
  • Strong analytical skills together with an ability to understand and succinctly explain large and complex concepts
